Village chronicle
At 420 metres above sea level, the village of Emsing lies in the quiet and romantic Anlauter Valley.
The village probably originated during the Germanic settlement period and developed from a clan settlement of Omeso.
Traces of the Limes near the village also bear witness to Roman times, and burial mounds prove that the village existed in the Bronze Age. The village is believed to have been founded in the 5th century AD and owes its name to the clan elders.
The village, originally known as Omesingen, has been documented since 1158 and has been a parish since 1212.
Today Emsing has around 300 inhabitants and, since 1972, has been part of the municipality of Titting in the district of Eichstätt of Upper Bavaria.
