Beautiful bathing lakes around Hotel Dirsch
What could be better than plunging into the cool water on a warm day, swimming a few energetic lengths and simply unwinding at one of the many bathing lakes? The lakes in the Altmühl Valley in particular offer plenty of variety and swimming fun – surrounded by glorious nature.
A trip to the lake is an experience for young and old, water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers and those seeking relaxation. As well as swimming, the lakes around Hotel Dirsch are also perfect for cycling tours, hikes, boat trips and picnics.

Bechthaler Weiher
Small but charming – and therefore particularly well suited to families with younger children. Wooden beams divide the lake, which is only about two metres deep, into areas for swimmers and non-swimmers.
The adjacent playground with climbing facilities and a slide tower offers fun for the little bathers. For a cultural programme close by, a visit to the Bechthal castle ruins is also recommended.

Kratzmühlsee
The Kratzmühlsee offers sunny and shady spots to lie down, changing rooms, non-swimmer areas, boat hire and shore areas for fishing.
A football pitch and mini golf course, playground, table tennis and places to eat round off what the recreation and leisure centre has to offer.

Altmühlsee
The Altmühlsee is one of the region's major water destinations. A cycling and hiking trail around the lake is ideal for active days, while a large part of the lake is a nature reserve offering special insights into its flora and fauna.
Bathing areas, boat jetties, sailing, surfing and other water sports make the lake a versatile destination.

Brombachsee
The Brombachsee is the heart of the Franconian Lake District. Lidos, sunbathing lawns and numerous leisure activities make for a varied summer's day.
Depending on the provider and the weather, sailing, stand-up paddling, windsurfing and other water sports are possible.

Rothsee
Three lake centres, a circular path of around twelve kilometres and plenty of opportunities for swimming, cycling and picnicking make the Rothsee a popular excursion destination.
Pedal boat hire, play areas and the environmental centre round off the day by the water.

Badesee St. Agatha
Badesee St. Agatha offers sunbathing lawns and seasonal lifeguard supervision. In the surrounding area, a day at the lake can be combined with other family attractions.
